• Bijzonderheden:33 years old Paul Döring was platoonleader in the 7th Company which was encamped in Grathem. The battalion was commanded by captain Von Kreisenberg who had his command post in a house at the Heelderpeel. In the morning of October 16th Paul Döring had to carry out an attack on Ittervoort along the Napoleonsbaan, via the hamlet of Santfort where the Germans had a small bridgehead across the Wessem-Nederweert canal. A Belgian post saw the group approaching the village and a firefight started and Paul Döring was wounded. The rest of the patrol was able to take him back to Grathem. There he died of his injuries.
